Sunday Lunch with the Doctor From Planet 234

A Poem by Maria Apichella

I bring Californian Rosé & diet lemonade.
Her kids crinkle for sugar and the dog leaps
as I wave through windows I’ve cleaned.
She said this morning’s sermon (I missed)
called for a burning heart. The black spaniel,
part lab, tugs us out the house so the beef
can cook until tender.
