Limestone Country

Little Toller, £15.00

Little Toller is an independent publisher, based in Dorset, which, in 2008, grew out of its status as a mere imprint of Dovecote Books to fulfil a ‘singular purpose: to revive forgotten and classic books about nature and rural life in the British Isles’ (to lift a quote from the website). Not just books; there are bird callers for sale on the site, bird houses, teeth-looseningly expensive paintings and sculptures. The Classics series includes titles by H.E. Bates and Gilbert White and Joseph Conrad and Henry Williamson while the newer titles, in the Field Notes and Monograph series, boast such names as Iain Sinclair, John Burnside, Horatio Clare and, now, Fiona Sampson.
